Beadful Privacy Policy

Beadful ("Beadful", "we", "us", or "our") is a daily-kindness journaling app that lets you record small acts of kindness, collect them as virtual "beads" in a jar, and — where available — order a physical accessory made from your beads with a portion of proceeds donated to a nonprofit you choose.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to the Beadful iOS app (the "App") and related services.

1. Summary

• Your kindness journal works on your device first. You can use the core journaling and bead-jar experience locally.
• If you create an account, your entries, beads, profile, and settings are synced to the cloud (Google Firebase) so they are backed up and available across your devices.
• If you place an order for a physical accessory, we collect the shipping and contact details needed to fulfill and deliver it, and we never receive or store your full card or bank details.
• We do not sell your personal information.
• You can delete your account and associated data at any time from inside the App.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Account information

When you sign up or sign in, we collect and process:

• Sign in with Apple identifiers — your name and email as provided by Apple. If you choose Apple's email relay ("Hide My Email"), we receive only the relay address and do not obtain your real email.
• A unique user account identifier assigned by Firebase Authentication.

2.2 Journal content and beads

• The text of your kindness entries and their dates.
• The beads generated from your entries (color, finish, and order).
• Your progress toward milestones.

When you are signed in, this content is stored on your device and synced to Cloud under your account.

2.3 Profile and settings

• Your display name (optional).
• The nonprofit category you select for donations.
• Your daily reminder preference and time.
• Onboarding status.

2.4 Order and shipping information (only when you place an order)

If and when you order a physical accessory, we collect:

• Recipient name
• Recipient phone number
• Postal code and shipping address
• The contents of your order (bead composition, product, price) and its status.

We use this to process, fulfill, and ship your order, and to send you order status updates.

2.5 Payment information (only when you place an order)

Payments are processed by Kakao Pay through our secure server. We do not collect or store your full card number, bank account number, or Kakao Pay credentials — those are handled directly by Kakao Pay and its payment partners.

2.6 Notifications

• Daily reminders are scheduled locally on your device and do not require sending your data to a server.

2.7 Information we do not collect

We do not knowingly collect precise location, contacts, photos, health data, or biometric data.

3. How we use your information

We use the information above to:

• Provide the core journaling and bead-jar experience.
• Create and manage your account and authenticate you.
• Back up and sync your data across your devices.
• Process, fulfill, and deliver accessory orders and send order updates.
• Calculate and forward the donation portion of a purchase to your chosen nonprofit category.
• Send reminders and notifications you have enabled.
• Maintain the security, integrity, and reliability of the service.
• Comply with legal obligations (e.g., tax and consumer-protection records for orders).

We do not use your journal content for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.

4. How we share information

We share personal information only as described here:

Our service providers act as data processors and are permitted to use your data only to provide services to us.

5. Data retention

• Account and synced data are retained while your account is active.
• Order, payment, and donation records may be retained for as long as required for accounting, tax, warranty, and legal-compliance purposes, even after account deletion.
• When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your associated cloud data as described in Section 7, subject to the legal-retention exceptions above.

6. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, authenticated access, and server-side handling of payment secrets so they are never exposed in the App. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export/port, or restrict the processing of your personal information, and to object to certain processing or withdraw consent.

In-app controls:

• Delete your account and cloud data: Open Profile → Delete Account. This deletes your authentication account and removes your synced entries, beads, and profile from the cloud. Local data on your device is removed when you delete the App.
• Edit your profile and settings at any time in the App.
• Manage notifications in the App and in iOS Settings → Notifications.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. Your continued use of Beadful after an update means you accept the revised policy.
